Why the name “Ebby”?
Ebby™ is named in honor of Ebby Thacher, whose conversation with Bill Wilson in 1934 helped inspire the founding of Alcoholics Anonymous.
That moment—an interruption in one person's behavior—changed everything. Ebby's message saved Bill’s life, and in turn, helped save millions more.
Years later, at an AA convention in 1960, Bill Wilson inscribed a Big Book for Ebby with these words:
“Dear Ebby,
No day passes that I do not remember that you brought me the message that saved me—and only God knows how many more.
In affection, Bill.”
We created Ebby™ to carry that legacy forward—delivering the right interruption at the right time, when it can make all the difference.
