The Opportunity

Join RecoveryAI as our Co-Founding Lead Engineer, a critical leadership position where you’ll own and drive the technical vision, product strategy, and hands-on execution of our core platform. This is not a management role—it’s a builder’s role. You’ll take over development of our in-progress MVP, guide its continued refinement, and lead its evolution into a scalable, production-ready product. We have the business and the science pedigree; we’re looking for a technical co-founder who wants to roll up their sleeves, shape the future of recovery technology, and bring a category-defining product to life.

Responsibilities

Lead the development of RecoveryAI’s MVP, transforming it into a secure, scalable, and production-ready product.
Own the technical architecture, infrastructure, and product roadmap, ensuring alignment with clinical and user needs.
Design and implement core AI systems, including predictive modeling, digital phenotyping, and real-time intervention pipelines.
Translate behavioral science and clinical insight into intuitive, usable product experiences powered by advanced AI.
Make key build-vs-buy decisions and select the right tools, platforms, and frameworks to accelerate development without compromising integrity.
Lay the groundwork for HIPAA-compliant data handling, user privacy, and future FDA regulatory readiness.
Collaborate closely with the founder and scientific co-founder to ensure technical execution is aligned with vision, research, and go-to-market strategy.
As we grow, guide hiring strategy and help build a high-performing technical team that shares our mission and mindset.

Qualifications

Proven experience as a hands-on technical founder, early-stage engineer, or solo builder—ideally having shipped a product or MVP in a startup environment.
Deep expertise in AI/ML, predictive analytics, and NLP, with a strong understanding of how to apply them in real-world, user-facing products.
Proficiency in modern development frameworks, cloud platforms (AWS, GCP), and infrastructure decisions that support scalable, privacy-first systems.
Experience working in or adjacent to regulated environments (e.g., healthcare, digital therapeutics), with an understanding of HIPAA, FDA considerations, and ethical AI principles.
Experience building and shipping mobile applications (iOS or cross-platform), ideally in a health or wellness context.
Strong product sensibility—you can translate abstract concepts (like relapse risk or behavioral signals) into elegant, functional systems.
A collaborative mindset and mission-driven ethos, with a passion for building tools that make a real difference in people’s lives.

You’re a hands-on technologist who thrives in early-stage environments—someone who doesn’t just want to lead, but wants to build. You’ve brought products to life from scratch, made architecture decisions under real constraints, and delivered working systems with limited resources. You’ve built and shipped mobile apps (iOS or cross-platform), and you understand what it means to design for devices that people carry with them 24/7—speed, privacy, reliability, and user experience all matter to you.

You have strong opinions about how good software is built, but you also know how to listen, collaborate, and move fast without breaking what matters. You care deeply about security, product integrity, and thoughtful architecture. You're not joining to manage a team (yet); you're joining to make the product real.

Compensation

As a co-founder, you’ll receive meaningful equity ownership that reflects the essential, hands-on role you’ll play in building this company from the ground up. While this is an equity-first role at the current stage, it comes with the opportunity for significant upside as we move toward clinical validation, product launch, and institutional funding. Your success will be directly tied to the company’s growth, impact, and long-term mission.
